Ьodern world requires students to be tech-savvy to enter the job market, which makes technology a major role-player in the class experience and learning. With the recent advancements in EdTech, numerous beneficial tech tools for math learning have been developed. These tools have proven effective in enhancing class engagement and overall student performance. With the abundance of tech tools, it can be difficult for educators to determine the best ones to use and the value they bring to education. Below are 15 technological tools that enhance classroom engagement and learning.

1. Gamification tools

Learning math for kids can be challenging, which makes it essential for educators to find fun and engaging ways to teach students. Gamification tools allow educators to use game elements like rewards, characters, and points to represent math concepts. Students love playing games, completing levels, and earning points and rewards. Representing math concepts in the form of games captures the attention of students and makes them interested in learning.

2. Video conferencing

Video conferencing is a basic tech tool for a math tutor online. Many math tutors use video conferencing tools like Zoom to hold classes virtually with their students in real time. These tools are convenient and efficient as they reduce the transport cost to meet students every day. Video conferencing platforms are user-friendly, which makes them convenient for all tech skill levels. These platforms also offer tools like breakout rooms, meeting recordings, and screen sharing, which help enhance student engagement.

3. Virtualization

Virtualization is a technological tool used to create virtual representations of an operating system and servers. Virtualization ensures fast device allocation and deletion and eases management. It also improves students’ data as it is stored in a centralized database rather than spread around the endpoints. Virtualization allows students to tackle their assignments from home and study remotely if situations arise.

4. Video content

Educative video content is available online on a free subscription or paid on several math websites online. The most common source of educational video content is YouTube. Students  can access videos related to every concept they learn on a free subscription and have several options depending on their learning pace.

5. Distance learning

Distance learning is any educational method that does not require a teacher and student being physically together in real time. Distance learning supplements the course work by providing learners with a platform to access learning materials like pre-recorded lessons or past exam materials.

6. Asynchronous learning

Unlike distance learning, asynchronous learning allows kids to attend lectures depending on their flexibility. This means that a learner does not have to be online in class simultaneously with an instructor. They can still access lectures, homework, and quizzes in their free time, usually within one or two weeks.

7. Virtual reality

Most people have heard of VR but think it is only used in gaming. VR provides interactive content such as images and videos, allowing the learner to experience 360 degrees of a scene. This means learners can travel to different world destinations without physically leaving the classroom.

8. Google forms

Google Forms is an easy and free way to engage students by giving them an easy way to ask questions, receive feedback, and reach out to the teacher. Google Forms allows students to give their reviews or ask questions anonymously, which greatly helps shy and struggling students who are hesitant to reach out.

9. Canva

Canva is a free tech tool used to create free graphic designs, allowing students to construct presentations, logos, infographics, and logos as well as create videos. Canva is easy to use and navigate; it provides learners with free templates and design tips. Learners can also work together to merge their ideas and let creativity flow. Learners can subscribe to Canva Pro or Canva for Team for premium services.

10. Kahoot!

Kahoot is a game-based learning platform that uses game elements to create multiple-choice quizzes that learners can access and take via a browser. The platform makes it easy for learners to obtain data for graphing assignments, research essays, and feedback from fellow classmates.

11. Socrative

Socrative is a tool used by educators to enhance classroom engagement. The platform allows them to launch pop-up quizzes and on-the-fly-questions and ask for instant student feedback during an activity. It also helps assess student understanding and adjust teaching techniques based on the results.

12. Class Dojo

Class Dojo is an online platform that helps connect teachers, students, and parents. The app incorporates game elements where students create their avatars and win and lose points depending on their behaviors and approach toward discussion. Teachers can also note class attendance and view key metrics to adjust their teaching technique.

13. Clickers

Clickers are a tool for teachers that helps them assess the level of understanding of every student in the classroom. The platform allows a teacher to project a question on the screen and let students give their answers. The answers are recorded in the teacher’s phone, where they can assess those kids who got them right and wrong and adjust their teaching goals.

14. Trello

Trello is a tech tool that teaches students how to organize and streamline their assignments. It is easy and free to use, especially while creating workflow charts. Several students can be added to the same board to work together on projects. The app is designed like post-it notes and extremely user-friendly and intuitive.

15. Seesaw

This is a tech tool for students to express themselves and give their reviews on the learning process. Teachers can access student reviews, messages, progress, and lessons on any device in this app.

Conclusion

Proper use of educational technology makes learning fun and engaging as well as makes a lot of work easy. While choosing the tools to use, a teacher should ensure that they align with the students’ and school preferences.
