How To Feel Stylish When Working From Home

How To Feel Stylish When Working From Home
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

If you work from home, it’s easy to wear whatever you want. However, you want to be more professional. So maybe you want to dress a certain way?

If you want to look a bit stylish when working from home, this guide will be a huge help. You can put something together that will fit you best. What can you wear with everyday pants for men?

It can be a button down shirt. Or it can be a t-shirt. Whatever your style, as long as it doesn’t look like you can lounge around all day, you should be good to go.

Let’s take a look now at how you can feel stylish while working from home, be it for the office or as your own boss.

Solid Colors Are Great

We get it. You love wearing your graphic tees. Or maybe that plaid shirt you inherited from your Grandpa.

But needless to say, they may not be the best selection. You’ll want to wear shirts that are solid in color.

Choose a few colors that you might enjoy wearing. If you need a hand, consider classic dark shaded colors like navy and brown. Those appear to be more professional compared to something that may be bright in colors.

Try Tailored Shirts

You may dress with a button down shirt. But the problem is it looks like you slept in it all night. Some of the shirts you buy in stores won’t be perfect.

For this reason, you can tailor the shirt. You can do it yourself or have a professional do it for you. Either way, it will be well fit and you’ll feel like you can take over the world after putting it on.

Say No To The Tie

Yes, the tie has got to go. It was standard for the office. But this is your office where there is no dress code (well, you do need to dress respectable).

So if you are wearing a button down and pants, a tie is just not necessary. If you are on a Zoom call with clients, it would look tacky and maybe a bit overkill. So ditch the tie and save it for the dinner parties and weddings.

Jeans Are In

And sweatpants are out. Yes, you’re home and you may be inclined to wear what you want. However, sweatpants are more of a relaxation thing than professional dress.

So you’ll want to go with a good pair of jeans. They aren’t sloppy. But they are respectable.

If you don’t want to wear dress slacks, jeans will be your best alternative. Nothing else will compare.

Dark denim may be the go-to option. Or you may go with black. Either way, you can’t lose.

A Nice Pair Of Sneakers Will Do

Dress shoes or loafers are fine. But if you really want to mix it up a bit, you can get a pair of sneakers. We’re not talking about sneakers that you wear to the gym (although those are OK).

We’re talking sneakers that are a bit more casual and laid back. Find a minimalist design that looks like you can wear them with a pair of khakis or a stylish pair of jeans. Either way, it should be a good fit for you.

These sneakers can be tie-ons or slip ons. Either way, once you slip them on, you want them to be as comfortable as possible. Try on a pair with your jeans and see how they look.

Hoodie? Up To You

If you feel like adding a bit of a relaxed, but professional look, a hoodie can be fine. If you happen to be on a Zoom call, lose the hood and present yourself. You can find that balance of looking sharp and laid back at the same time.

If you are considering colors, refer back to our point from earlier. You’ll want something that is solid in color. You don’t want any graphics on there.

We also know that you are a proud graduate of the school you went to. However, you may want to set that off to the side. Solid colors will be great and it can be something that can contrast with the shirt you are wearing.

Final Thoughts

If you want to work from home, you want to lose the clothes that make you look lazy. Instead, you want to dress as a professional with a mix of casual. You can find that happy medium whether you are your own boss or working for a company.

You’ll feel good and look like you are ready to take over the world (in a good way). Take a moment to go through your wardrobe to see if you can find anything good. Otherwise, it may be time to go clothes shopping.
