What Is Soft Water?

In simple terms, soft water contains less of the harsh elements that can cause damage to your home and possibly your health. You will immediately notice if you have soft water when you look at pipes or if you use a kettle. Hard water causes build-ups of lime very quickly.

The effects of soft water are more extensive than people think. Did you know that hard water can actually have a negative impact on the soaps that you use? It can prevent the cleaning agents from working as effectively as you may expect.

In reality, soft water is worth investing in. If you have hard water but would like to avoid its negative effects, why not consider a professional water filter and softener? You can read about some of the most effective softeners from the Rainsoft water softener review page.

What Is Hard Water?

So what makes hard water so bad? Hard water contains very high levels of two elements: calcium and magnesium. While these are naturally occurring, in large quantities they can have detrimental effects on your body and house.

You will spot that you have hard water when you clean your house each week. If you notice that scum builds up on your dishes or areas that you clean this could be a tell-tale sign.

Hard water is especially damaging when it is heated. At certain temperatures, the elements, such as calcium, will attach to hard surfaces such as an element or pipe. As this happens repeatedly, it causes the surrounding areas to build up large amounts of calcium. This causes pipers to be less effective and water heaters to use far more electricity.

Hard water is also mildly damaging to your health. You may well notice that you feel dryness on your hands and body after using it to wash. This is often a symptom of hard water.

What Can You Do About It?

In 2021, there is plenty of technology available to counteract hard water. Water filters and softeners are available throughout the world to make your water more healthy and less damaging to your home.
