Derek Cross was headed to jail not long after Richard New says Cross called him, apologizing for stealing the tractor from Southern Oaks Funeral Home. “Mr. New, I’m the man who took your tractor and I did return your tractor,” Cross said to Richard New during the phone conversation. He apparently gave police and New different stories on why he stole the $13,000 tractor.
